The Publican, Victoria Park, Perth

The Publican holds a special place in my heart, as it was the setting for my first dinner date with Ninja. Even though everything they served looked delicious that night, I had been too nervous to eat. Luckily for my taste buds I’ve had a chance to revisit.
Ninja and I limited our meal choices to the tapas section of the menu, going for the “order a few for now, order more if we’re still hungry” approach. We started with the seared scallops with chorizo on green pea mash (pictured above), salt and pepper squid, mini arancini, and cheese and thyme popcorn balls.
The highlight of the night was the pumpkin and gruyère mini arancini, worthy of a cutlery battle for the last bite. The pork belly was delicious and at only $9 it has to be the bargain of the century.
